They spent months in Baltimore readying the ship for the voyage. - They used [[Dewey Stone]]'s front company "Weston Trading Company of New York" to buy the ship. - Dewey Stone was an influential Jewish businessman and lobbyist for Israel from the 40s-70s. - The Ship was deceptively registered under the Honduran Flag. - July 11, 1947, The ship left a French port with 4500 Jewish refugees who were given forged passports from Colombia. - July 18, the British intercepted the ship and attempted to deport passengers to France. - The Haganah pressured the passengers to not get off the ship.
