# Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM)
- Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) is an American coalitional Jewish organization dedicated to fighting antisemitism.
- CAM was founded in 2019 by Adam E. Beren, a Kansas-based Jewish businessman.[^2]
- CAM is involved in lobbying, political messaging, and coalition based pressure campaigns.
- CAM has significant connections to Israel through its partner organizations (which include Israeli government ministries) and its leadership (which includes Israeli intel officers, soldiers, politicians, etc.).
#### The Coalition
- CAM operates as a coalition of "more than 850" of predominantly Jewish organizations.
- CAM prides itself on welcoming a broad array of organizations to its coalition with one exception: all members of the coalition must support Israel.[^5]
- Among the 850+ organizations involved in the Combat Antisemitism Movement, these are the most relevant to this project:[^3]
- American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists
- Global Jewry - *This is literally the name of the organization.[^4]*
- [[StandWithUs (SWU)]]
- [[Keren Hayesod]]
- [[Tikvah Fund]]
- [[StopAntisemitism]]
- [[Simon Wiesenthal Center]]
- [[Hillel International]]
- [[Orthodox Union]]
- [[Na'amat]]
- The Israeli government's [[Ministry of Diaspora Affairs]]
- [[Maccabee Task Force]]
- [[The Lawfare Project]]
- Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) - *JNS articles have been a significant source for this project.*
- [[Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA)]]
- [[JewBelong]]
- [[Jewish National Fund]]
- [[Jewish Institute for Liberal Values (Rebranded to North American Values Institute)]]
- [[Jerusalem Foundation]]
- [[JCC Association of North America]]
- [[Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC)]]
- [[Israel Bonds]]
- Interfaith Queer Alliance
- [[Hasbara Fellowships]]
- [[Hadassah]]
- [[Claims Conference]]
- [[Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA)]]
- [[Birthright Israel]]
- [[B'nai B'rith]]
- [[American Zionist Movement (AZM)]]
- [[American Jewish Congress]]
- [[Act.IL]]
- [[A Wider Bridge]]
- [[Jewish Agency]]
- [[Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA)]] - *Formerly*[^6]
- [[American Jewish Committee (AJC)]]
#### Activities
- Among CAM's top priorities is pushing for adoption of the [[International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)]] Working Definition of Antisemitism.[^5]
- The IHRA's definition is made up of eleven bullet points, seven of which involve Israel.
- CAM hosts an annual "Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism."
- The summit hosts mayors of cities around the world for the purpose of highlighting supposed antisemitism and pledging to fight it.
- The Mayor's Summit has been subject to direct Israeli government involvement via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[^5]
- In February 2023, CAM partnered with the [[Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI)]] to produce a 25 page report claiming increased antisemitic activity on Twitter following its acquisition by Elon Musk.[^8][^9]
- In a since deleted video from June 2023, CAM decried so called "woke-antisemitism."[^6]
- The pejorative use of "woke" was taken poorly by CAM's largely left wing member organizations.
- The [[Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA)]] and the [[Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA)]] withdrew from the coalition in response. *JFNA later returned.*
- [[Amy Spitalnick]], the JCPA's CEO, called the video "deeply disturbing."[^5] *The JCPA is a far left pro-Israel organization.*
#### Funding and Donors
- Combat Antisemitism Movement, officially registered as "Combat Hate Foundation," has recently achieved annual revenues around $10 million.[^7]
- As visible on Combat Hate Foundation's ProPublica page, CAM's revenues nearly tripled after 2023, almost certainly in response to [[October 7th]].
- Major CAM donors include:
- Adam Beren via the Baren Sea Foundation - over $6 million between 2020 and 2023.[^2][^12]
- Vanguard and Schwab donor advised funds - $500,000+ *This number is likely much higher. Vanguard's Charitable Endowment fund has contributed at least $445,000 and Schwab has contributed at least $155,100.*[^12][^12]
- Rabil Family Foundation - $100,000 in 2023.
*Most CAM donors are not publicly known, making an exhaustive list impossible.*
#### Notable Figures
- Adam E. Beren - Founder - In 2019, Beren was appointed to the board of trustees of the [[United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM)]] by President [[Donald Trump]].[^5]
- Beren has pledged to donate over half of his money to the Jewish people and/or Israel upon his death in accordance with the [[Jewish Future Promise]].[^5]
- Beren has a long history of Republican/Trump political contributions.
- Beren has donated to both the [[Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC)]] and former Jewish Democrat senators [[Eric Fingerhut]] and [[Joe Lieberman]]. *Identity is stronger than partisanship*
