# Moishe House
- Moishe House is a Jewish nonprofit organization that provides "Moishe houses" - rent subsidized housing - to Jewish young adults to cultivate their Jewish identity. [^1]
- Moishe houses were described in a [2011 *JTA* article](https://www.jta.org/2011/10/12/ny/moishe-house-hitting-big-apple#:~:text=homes%20where%20post%2Dcollege%2C%20pre%2Dmarriage%20Jews%20get%20rent%20subsidies%20in%20exchange%20for%20hosting%20Shabbat%20dinners%20and%20other%20Jewish%20programs%20for%20their%20peers) as "homes where post-college, pre-marriage Jews get rent subsidies in exchange for hosting Shabbat dinners and other Jewish programs for their peers."[^2]
- In a [2011 article in *Nextbook Press*](https://web.archive.org/web/20081018033231/http://www.nextbook.org/cultural/feature.html?id=741#:~:text=It%E2%80%99s%20also%20just%20plain%20unusual%3A%20The%20people%20throwing%20this%20party%20are%20being%20paid%20to%20be%20Jewish.), Moishe houses were described as outwardly secular party-like environments that are "just plain unusual: The people throwing this party are being paid to be Jewish."[^3]
