2025-06-24 16:59 <br/> Tags: #people #EarlyZionism #Yishuv #Israel #Intel ![[image-25.png|251x337]] # Avraham Stern (1907-1942) - Stern was a radical militant [[Revisionist Zionism|Revisionist Zionist]] in the Jewish underground in Palestine, and founder of the [[Irgun and Lehi Zionist Paramilitary Organizations|Lehi]]. - He joined the [[Haganah]] in 1929 before leaving to join his friend [[Avraham Tehomi|Avraham Tehomi's]] radical Zionist paramilitary the [[Irgun and Lehi Zionist Paramilitary Organizations|Irgun]]. - In the 1930s Stern organized the illegal immigration ([[Jewish Immigration to Palestine|Aliyah Bet]]) of European Jews to Palestine. <br/> - In 1939 Stern along with other Irgun members are imprisoned by the British in Palestine. - Upon his release he splits from the Irgun to form his own even more radical Zionist paramilitary the Lehi. - The Lehi was smaller and more poorly funded than the Irgun. - To compensate, the Lehi focused on smaller yet still effective attacks(ex. assassinating British officials). *Below is the flag of the Lehi* ![[image-83.png|184x292]] #### Stern's Proposed Nazi Alliance - At the onset of WWII Stern sought the aid of Mussolini's Italy and Hitler's Germany in his fight against the British authorities in Palestine. - Stern imagined the Italians as a future replacement to British rule over Palestine. - In early 1941 Stern's Lehi met with the Germans to propose an alliance against the British. - In this alliance, the Lehi would assist Germany against Britain and in return Germany would allow the Jews of Europe to emigrate to Palestine. - These talks went nowhere. *Yes it's true that parts of the Jewish far right in Palestine including Stern tried to cooperate with the Nazis. I don't see this as such a redpill as others do. To me it's too easy an argument to counter; "Stern was not supporting the Nazis, he knew Germany was an enemy but saw a temporary alliance as a benefit to the Jewish predicament in Palestine." Stern was not "supporting" the Nazis. I won't die on the hill of the Jews secretly supported the Nazis.
